Overview
Course Description:
State securities regulators across the U.S., Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, and Mexico collaborate through the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), sharing information and coordinating enforcement efforts. While regulatory requirements vary by state, many jurisdictions have adopted NASAA model rules. This session will explore how differing state regulatory expectations and enforcement cultures affect investment advisory examinations and how to prepare for them. The focus will be on the states’ latest examination and enforcement priorities, and steps firms can take before, during, and after an exam to improve exam outcomes. Learn where operational drift develops, and how firms can build more adaptive, risk-based compliance practices that evolve alongside the business. Explore moving beyond template-based compliance toward operationally integrated supervision and monitoring
